The KYOCERA TAB02121 is a DNMG432HQ CA515 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection across a range of cutting conditions. The insert has a 55-degree diamond shape, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. With a negative rake angle of -15 degrees and a honed cutting edge, it is built for stable, controlled cuts in steel and similar ferrous materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of standard toolholder setups.
This insert is suited for external turning, boring, and copying operations in production and job-shop environments. It targets primary workpiece materials classified under ISO material grade P, covering steels in grades P01 through P30. The HQ chip breaker geometry supports reliable chip control across light to moderate depth-of-cut applications. The insert accommodates both clamp and pin holding methods, making it compatible with a wide range of standard DNMG toolholders. It is appropriate for medium-volume production runs where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit turning insert for DNMG-style toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick, 55-degree diamond inserts per ANSI and ISO dimensional standards.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
