The KYOCERA TAB00507 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on steel workpieces. It carries the ANSI designation CCMT3251PP and ISO code CCMT09T304PP, featuring an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 10 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle. The insert is CVD-coated with a three-layer TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN stack, grade CA515, engineered for high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness in steel cutting applications. The PP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, and the honed cutting edge style supports consistent surface finish results. Licensed tradespeople and machining professionals install this insert in CNC lathes and turning centers.
This insert is suited for finishing operations in steel (ISO material group P) across a range of applications including external turning, boring, internal facing, chamfering, and facing. It is designed for use in screw-held toolholders that accept CCMT-style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. The CA515 grade targets P01 through P30 steel classifications, covering a broad range of carbon, alloy, and low-alloy steels. It is well-suited for both light finishing passes and moderate-duty continuous cuts where surface integrity is a priority.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CCMT3251-style screw-held insert seats in standard ANSI and ISO toolholders accepting an 80-degree diamond insert with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Compatible with toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO CCMT09T304 seating specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key driver to seat the clamping screw to toolholder manufacturer specifications — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert. Confirm chip breaker orientation and cutting edge engagement before resuming operation.
