The KYOCERA TAB00431 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CCMT2151HQ and ISO designation CCMT060204HQ, finished in a CVD-applied TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN multilayer coating under the CA515 grade. This insert carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 7-degree relief angle, and a 15-degree positive rake angle with a honed cutting edge. It is engineered for steel workpieces across material grades P01 through P30, covering a range from high wear-resistance to moderate toughness. The HQ chip breaker geometry supports finishing and medium machining operations. A licensed machinist or CNC turning specialist installs this insert on screw-held toolholders.
This insert is suited for external turning, boring, facing, internal facing, and chamfering applications in steel. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0156-inch corner radius, and a 0.0938-inch insert thickness, it fits compact toolholders used on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. The ISOI series designation and dual ANSI and ISO standards compliance make it interchangeable across tooling systems that accept the CCMT2151 or CCMT060204 insert pocket size. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the positive side clearance supports clean chip evacuation on steel.
Designed for toolholders accepting CCMT2151 (ANSI) or CCMT060204 (ISO) insert pockets. Suitable for multi-use applications including external turning, boring, chamfering, facing, and internal facing on steel workpieces.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder specification; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the pocket seat and screw for wear before installing a new insert.
