The KYOCERA SGS PRECISION TOOLS 48801 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in CNC machining operations. Built from micrograin carbide and finished with an AlTiN coating, it handles elevated cutting temperatures and extends tool life in demanding materials. The 0.0787-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 0.248-inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle, delivering efficient chip evacuation and reduced radial forces. Three flutes provide a balance of chip clearance and cutting edge strength suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators typically specify this tool for close-tolerance work.
This end mill is engineered for use in a wide range of workpiece materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless and heat-resistant alloys, non-ferrous metals, plastics, and aerospace-grade materials corresponding to ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.1181 inches fits standard collet holders and tool holders used in vertical and horizontal machining centers. Its regular-length geometry suits typical cavity, slot, and profile milling where extended reach is not required.
Designed as a Series 5M replacement end mill compatible with standard straight-cylindrical collet and shrink-fit tool holders accepting a 0.1181-inch shank diameter. Suitable for workpiece materials in ISO groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147. Seat the shank fully in the collet or tool holder to the minimum insertion depth specified by the holder manufacturer before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material and coating type.
