The KYOCERA SGS PRECISION TOOLS 48530 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual milling applications. It features a 0.1969-inch cutting diameter with four spiral flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, delivering smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action. The TiCN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.2362 inches in diameter, fitting standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Machinist and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for finishing and semi-finishing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on a wide range of workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant alloys, and titanium, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It performs well in high-speed CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a small-diameter, short-length tool is needed. The 0.6299-inch length of cut and 50 mm overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate pocket milling, slotting, and profiling work where rigidity and accuracy are priorities.
Designed as a standard-geometry square end mill for use in collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 0.2362-inch (6 mm) straight cylindrical shank, common to CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Suitable for workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S per the Series 1M classification.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the recommended gauge-line depth before tightening to prevent runout and tool pullout. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Follow the machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when handling carbide cutting tools, as edges are sharp and the material is brittle under impact.
