The KYOCERA OTM86207 is a 3xD indexable insert drill from the Holeshot Series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal and industrial workpiece materials. It accepts two WCMX-style inserts and delivers a maximum drill diameter of 1.25 inches with a maximum drill depth of 3.75 inches. The whistle notch shank measures 1.25 inches in diameter and integrates coolant-through capability, allowing cutting fluid to reach the cutting zone directly for improved chip evacuation and tool life. Right-hand cutting direction is standard. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC turning centers and machining cells will find this drill suited for production-rate applications where insert indexability reduces downtime.
The OTM86207 is intended for use in CNC machining environments where a drill depth-to-diameter ratio of 3xD is required. The coolant-through design supports high-feed drilling in steels, cast irons, and similar materials where heat and chip buildup are primary concerns. The whistle notch shank style is compatible with standard toolholders sized for 1.25-inch shanks. The Holeshot Series is optimized for drilling efficiency in production settings, making this drill a practical choice for job shops and manufacturing facilities running moderate to high volumes.
Compatible with WCMX 06T308-M1A inserts. Insert sizes used are 0.094 inches (Insert 2) and 0.156 inches (Insert 1). Shank type is whistle notch, fitting standard 1.25-inch bore toolholders designed for that shank style.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with CNC toolholder systems. Confirm the toolholder bore and retention mechanism are rated for a 1.25-inch whistle notch shank before mounting. Verify coolant-through ports are clear and the machine coolant system is connected before initiating a drilling cycle. Always index or replace inserts with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures.
