The KYOCERA 8850625 is a WCMX-style indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable insert drills on CNC machining centers and turning centers. It features a trigon (80-degree included angle) geometry with a PVD-coated solid carbide construction in grade PR1230, engineered for productive cutting in steel workpieces. The 0.25 inch inscribed circle (IC) and 1/64 inch corner radius contribute to a balanced combination of edge strength and surface finish. The M1A chipbreaker geometry is suited for moderate-feed drilling operations in steel and similar ferrous materials. Installation requires no special tooling beyond the appropriate torx or hex key for the insert pocket fastener.
This insert is primarily applied in indexable insert drill bodies designed to accept WCMX-style inserts with a 0.25 inch IC and the corresponding insert size code 07. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in steel components in production machining environments. The PR1230 grade with PVD coating provides wear resistance and edge integrity for right-hand cutting operations, making it a common choice for medium-duty steel drilling in both job shop and production settings. It ships individually and is available in multiples of one unit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement indexable drill insert for drill bodies accepting WCMX-style inserts with insert size code 07 and a 0.25 inch inscribed circle. Verify drill body insert pocket specifications against ANSI code WCMX040204M1A PR1230 before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the drill body manufacturer to seat and torque the insert clamp screw — do not exceed the drill body manufacturer's specified fastener torque. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating the new insert.
