The KWIKSET 81087-001 is a privacy emergency tool designed to release interior privacy locksets from the outside when access is needed. This small tool fits into the pinhole or slot on the exterior side of a privacy door knob or lever, allowing the lock to be released without a key. It is a standard service and maintenance item used by locksmiths, property managers, and maintenance technicians working on residential door hardware. The tool is compact and lightweight, making it easy to keep on hand as part of a standard door hardware service kit.
This emergency release tool is suited for residential interior doors equipped with privacy locksets, such as those found on bathrooms, bedrooms, and similar rooms. It is intended for use with compatible KWIKSET privacy knobs and levers where a pinhole or turn-slot emergency release is present on the exterior rose or escutcheon. One tool is included per order.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement emergency tool for residential KWIKSET privacy door knobs and levers equipped with a pinhole or turn-slot exterior emergency release.
No tools beyond the emergency tool itself are required for operation. Insert the tool straight into the pinhole or align it with the turn slot on the exterior side of the privacy lockset and apply light pressure or turn as needed to retract the lock. No disassembly of the door hardware is required for normal emergency release use. When replacing or servicing the underlying lockset, follow standard residential door hardware procedures and ensure the door is properly supported during any hardware removal.
