The KURT HDH691 is a horizontal machine vise designed for precision workholding on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Built from ductile iron, it delivers a maximum clamping force of 5,250 foot-pounds through a reverse hydraulic operation. The jaw width is 6 inches with an overall length of 20.553 inches and an overall height of 4.86 inches. The stationary base provides a stable, fixed mounting platform, while the taller, narrower body design reduces deflection and improves rigidity during heavy cutting operations. A licensed machinist or CNC operator is the primary user. The included Groove Lock Workstop and quick-change movable jaw speed up part setup and changeover on production runs.
The HDH691 is suited for horizontal workholding applications in single-station configurations on vertical machining centers. The stationary base design makes it appropriate for fixtures that require a fixed vise position throughout a job cycle. The sine key and standard jaw plate support repeatable, accurate part location. With a jaw height of 1.735 inches and a throat depth of 1-47/64 inches, it accommodates a range of workpiece profiles common in precision machining environments. This vise is typically used in job shops, tool rooms, and production machine shops where consistent clamping force and minimal jaw lift are critical.
Designed as an OEM-style precision machine vise for use on vertical machining centers and manual milling machines that accept standard vise mounting configurations.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the vise from the table. Use appropriate T-slot hardware and torque fasteners to the machine tool manufacturer's table specifications. Verify vise alignment with a dial indicator after mounting before running any parts.
