The KRYLON K00859008 is a rust-preventive acrylic alkyd enamel spray paint formulated for direct-to-metal application. It delivers a flat, galvanizing gray finish without requiring a primer coat, making it a practical choice for HVAC techs, plumbers, electricians, and general maintenance professionals who need a fast, durable protective coating on exposed metal surfaces. The oil-based formula reaches a touch-dry state in approximately 30 minutes and a full handle-dry cure in about 1 hour. Each 15-ounce aerosol can covers 30 to 35 square feet per application. The Spray Any Way comfort tip allows the can to be held at multiple angles, which is useful when coating awkward or hard-to-reach components.
This coating is suited for use on metal, aluminum, and steel surfaces in both indoor and outdoor environments. Typical applications include repainting HVAC equipment housings, condenser cabinets, electrical enclosures, pipe hangers, brackets, structural steel, and other ferrous or non-ferrous metal components that need corrosion protection. It is appropriate for residential and light commercial maintenance work where a clean, uniform flat gray finish is required. Application temperature must stay between 55 and 75 degrees F for proper adhesion and cure.
Designed for direct application on metal, aluminum, and steel surfaces. Suitable for use across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general industrial maintenance applications where a rust-preventive flat gray coating is needed.
Surface preparation is critical for adhesion — clean the substrate of grease, rust scale, and loose paint before spraying. Shake the can thoroughly before use and maintain recommended application temperatures between 55 and 75 degrees F. Apply in a well-ventilated area and follow all aerosol safety guidelines, including keeping the can away from open flame or ignition sources. Allow adequate dry time before handling or reinstalling coated components.
