The KNIPEX 46 21 A21 is a bent-nose external retaining ring plier designed for installing and removing external circlips in mechanical assemblies. The 90-degree bent nose gives the technician direct access to retaining rings on shafts and bores where a straight-nose tool cannot reach cleanly. The plier handles rings ranging from 3/4 inch to 2-3/64 inches in diameter and has an overall length of 6-3/4 inches. The body is forged steel and oil-hardened for durability under repeated shop use. Handles are non-slip plastic. This tool is used by machinists, mechanics, HVAC technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals.
The 46 21 A21 is suited for external retaining ring service on shafts, gearboxes, motor assemblies, fan hubs, and similar mechanical components in both residential and commercial maintenance environments. The 90-degree tip angle makes it especially practical in confined spaces where straight access is limited. The 1.80 mm tip diameter and 0.0700-inch tip size provide positive engagement with standard external circlip ears. This plier covers the most commonly encountered external ring sizes in light-to-medium industrial and HVAC field service work.
Designed for use with external retaining rings (circlips) in the 3/4 inch to 2-3/64 inch diameter range on shafts and mechanical assemblies requiring a 90-degree bent-nose approach.
This tool is used by mechanics, machinists, and service technicians working on rotating assemblies and mechanical equipment. Always relieve any spring tension or mechanical load on the assembly before removing or installing a retaining ring. Wear eye protection when spreading or compressing circlips, as rings can release suddenly. Do not apply excessive force beyond the designed ring diameter range, as over-spreading a circlip can permanently deform it.
