The KLEIN TOOLS K1412 is a dual NM cable stripper and cutter designed for electricians working with Type NM-B nonmetallic sheathed cable. It features dedicated stripping slots for 12/2 and 14/2 cable, allowing fast, clean removal of the outer jacket without damaging conductors. Precision staggered blades deliver square, clean cuts on solid copper wire. The tool also strips insulation from 12 and 14 AWG individual lead wires. A coil spring provides automatic self-opening action, and a closure lock keeps the tool secure during storage. Double-dipped comfort grips reduce hand fatigue during repetitive work.
This tool is built for residential and light commercial electrical work where Type NM-B cable is standard. It is most commonly used by licensed electricians and skilled DIYers during rough-in and finish wiring. The curved handle profile and serrated nose allow the tool to fit into tight spaces and assist with bending, shaping, and pulling wire. Wire looping and bending holes support terminal prep work, while screw shearing holes handle common fastener sizes encountered during device installation.
Designed for use with Type NM-B nonmetallic sheathed cable in 12/2 and 14/2 configurations, and for stripping insulation on 12 and 14 AWG solid copper lead wire.
This tool is used by licensed electricians and should be operated only on de-energized circuits with the breaker locked out and tagged per NFPA 70E safe work practices. No special tools are required beyond standard PPE appropriate for electrical work. Inspect the blades before each use to confirm they are free of nicks or damage that could score conductor insulation.
