The KIDDE - EDWARDS EGCF-VMH is a ceiling-mounted visual notification appliance designed for fire alarm systems. This strobe unit mounts to a ceiling junction box and produces a high-intensity flash to alert building occupants to an alarm condition. It is marked for fire alarm use, meeting the signage requirements common in commercial and institutional installations. Licensed fire alarm technicians and electrical contractors are the primary installers of this type of device.
Ceiling-mounted strobes like the EGCF-VMH are used in corridors, classrooms, offices, and other interior spaces where audible notification alone may be insufficient. They are a standard component of addressable and conventional fire alarm notification circuits in both new construction and retrofit applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or original-install visual notification appliance for ceiling-mounted fire alarm strobe applications. Consult the fire alarm control panel documentation to confirm notification appliance circuit voltage and current requirements before installation.
Installation must be performed by a licensed fire alarm technician or qualified electrical contractor in accordance with NFPA 72 and applicable local codes. De-energize the notification appliance circuit at the fire alarm control panel before making any wiring connections. Verify notification appliance circuit compatibility and polarity prior to energizing. Final commissioning should include a functional test of the strobe under normal operating conditions.
