The KEO 956-000-045 is a single-ended spotting drill designed to create accurate starter holes and countersink points before through-drilling operations. Built from Cobalt M-42 high-speed steel, it handles harder workpiece materials and elevated cutting temperatures that standard HSS tooling cannot sustain. The drill features a 90-degree point angle, a 0.375-inch cutting diameter, and a bright uncoated finish suitable for a wide range of general-purpose spotting applications. With a 7-inch overall length and a straight cylindrical shank, it mounts directly into standard drill chucks and collet holders on machining centers, drill presses, and CNC equipment. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and production operators use this drill for precise hole location on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This spotting drill is suited for general-purpose use in job shops, production machining, and maintenance environments. It performs best when used to spot locations prior to twist drilling or to produce a clean chamfer at a hole entrance. The 90-degree included point angle aligns with common drill point geometries, helping reduce walking and improving positional accuracy on flat and slightly irregular surfaces. The right-hand spiral flute design with two flutes promotes efficient chip evacuation during the spotting pass.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard drill chucks and straight-shank collet holders accepting a 0.375-inch shank diameter on drill presses, machining centers, and CNC equipment.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before securing the shank in the chuck or collet. Confirm runout is within acceptable tolerance after seating the shank to protect both the tool and the workpiece. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish at the spot location.
