The KEO 902-000-064 is a solid pilot counterbore designed to produce clean, flat-bottomed recesses for socket-head cap screws in metal workpieces. Built from cobalt steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers the hardness and heat resistance needed for production drilling and machining operations. The tool features a 20 mm counterbore diameter, a 10.2 mm pilot diameter, and three flutes that promote chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. It is sized to seat M12 socket-head cap screws flush or below the workpiece surface. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this style of counterbore on manual mills, CNC machining centers, and drill presses.
This counterbore is suited for metalworking applications in both job shop and production environments. The 10.2 mm pilot engages a pre-drilled clearance hole to keep the counterbore centered during cutting, eliminating chatter and ensuring consistent recess depth. With a 12.5 mm shank diameter, it fits standard toolholders and chucks commonly found in milling and drilling setups. Typical use cases include fabricating machine frames, fixtures, enclosures, and structural assemblies where socket-head fasteners must sit flush or recessed.
Designed for use with M12 socket-head cap screws. Requires a pre-drilled pilot hole to accept the 10.2 mm standard pilot. Compatible with manual milling machines, CNC machining centers, and drill presses equipped with toolholders or chucks accepting a 12.5 mm shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolmaker. Secure the shank firmly in a collet chuck or drill chuck before operation, and verify the pilot hole is sized correctly to accept the 10.2 mm pilot without excessive play. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to prolong tool life and improve surface finish. Never run the tool without the pilot engaged in the clearance hole, as this can cause the counterbore to drift and damage the workpiece.
