The KEO 902-000-024 is a solid pilot counterbore designed for precision counterboring operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built from cobalt steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers durability and heat resistance during cutting. The tool features a 0.604-inch counterbore diameter, a 0.406-inch oversize pilot diameter, and three flutes arranged for forward cutting direction. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.5 inches in diameter, and the tool runs 5 inches in overall length. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this counterbore to create clean, flat-bottomed recesses that seat socket-head cap screws flush or below the workpiece surface.
This counterbore is sized for 3/8-inch socket-head cap screws and is suited for use in machine shops, aerospace maintenance facilities, and general metalworking environments. The oversize pilot provides positive hole guidance during the cutting stroke, reducing chatter and improving concentricity. The cobalt steel construction makes it appropriate for use on harder ferrous alloys, stainless steel, and other demanding materials where high-speed steel tooling may wear prematurely. It is used in both manual milling and drill-press setups where repeatable counterbore depth and diameter are required.
Designed for use with 3/8-inch socket-head cap screws. Fits standard drill presses and milling machine setups accepting a 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians using a drill press, milling machine, or similar machine tool. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation and confirm the pilot fits the existing pilot hole without excessive play. Power down and lock out the machine before changing or inspecting the tool. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for cobalt steel tooling on the workpiece material being machined.
