The KEO 902-000-012 is a solid pilot counterbore designed for creating clean, flat-bottomed recesses that seat socket-head cap screws flush with or below a workpiece surface. Manufactured from cobalt steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool delivers heat and wear resistance suited to tough ferrous materials. The counterbore has a 0.304-inch cutting diameter and an oversize pilot diameter of 0.195 inches, which guides the tool concentrically with a pre-drilled hole. With 3 flutes and a forward cutting direction, it produces smooth, consistent finishes in production and maintenance machining environments. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.25 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 3 inches.
This counterbore is sized specifically for number 8 socket-head cap screws and is suited to both job-shop and production machining applications. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use tools of this type when precision screw seating is required in metal fabrication, fixture building, and mechanical assembly. The oversize pilot design provides added guidance stability, reducing runout and helping maintain positional accuracy during the counterboring operation.
Designed for use with number 8 socket-head cap screws. Fits standard 0.25-inch straight-cylindrical shank holders, drill presses, milling machines, and similar machine tool setups used in general metalworking applications.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists using a drill press, milling machine, or similar rotating machine tool. Secure the shank firmly in a matching chuck or collet before operation and verify the pilot fits freely in the pilot hole without excessive play. Always bring the spindle to a full stop before changing tooling or adjusting workpiece position. Follow your machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed selection based on workpiece material hardness.
