The KENNAMETAL 7093816 is a DCGT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built from solid carbide with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating and KENNAMETAL grade KCU10B, this insert delivers consistent performance in finishing and light interrupted cuts. The diamond-shaped insert geometry features a 55-degree included angle, a 7-degree relief angle, and a 0.40mm (1/64 inch) corner radius, making it well suited for applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. The HP chip breaker geometry controls chip evacuation in demanding finishing passes.
This insert is used in external turning and profiling applications on CNC turning centers and engine lathes across metalworking, aerospace component machining, and general precision machining environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both left- and right-hand toolholders where the insert geometry permits. Machinists and tooling technicians working with aluminum, non-ferrous alloys, and certain steels will find the KCU10B grade with AlTiN coating appropriate for high-speed finishing conditions. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of 5 inserts.
Designed as a replacement-style DCGT turning insert compatible with standard DCGT insert seat toolholders accepting a size code 3251 insert with 5/32 inch thickness and 5/32 inch width. Verify seat geometry, insert size code, and chip breaker clearance with your toolholder specification before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered off and in a locked-out state. Seat the insert firmly into the toolholder pocket and secure with the appropriate clamping screw to the torque specification listed by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating to avoid insert rocking or premature breakage. Follow your facility safety standards and toolholder manufacturer guidelines when indexing or replacing inserts.
