The KENNAMETAL 7093382 is a TPGT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a triangular insert shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.008 inch (0.20 mm) corner radius, and an 11-degree relief angle for reduced cutting forces and improved surface finish on non-ferrous and light alloy workpieces. The insert is manufactured in grade KCU10B with an AlTiN coating for elevated heat resistance and extended tool life at higher cutting speeds. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for finishing and light semi-finishing passes in turning centers and engine lathes where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. The 60-degree included angle and precision ground geometry make it appropriate for profiling operations on aluminum, copper alloys, and similar non-ferrous materials. The HP chip breaker geometry assists with chip control in high-speed finishing applications. Three usable cutting edges per insert maximize value per unit in production environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement carbide turning insert for TPGT-style toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle triangular insert with a 5/32 inch thickness.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert to avoid premature edge failure.
