The KENNAMETAL 7093258 is a carbide turning insert in the SNMG style, designed for general turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating applied over a KCU10B carbide grade substrate, providing heat and wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert has a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, a neutral hand orientation, and an FP chipbreaker geometry suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The corner radius measures 0.0313 inches (0.80 mm), and the insert thickness is 0.1875 inches (4.76 mm). This insert delivers 8 usable cutting edges per piece, reducing per-edge tooling cost in production environments.
This insert is intended for use in standard SNMG-compatible insert toolholders used in turning centers and engine lathes. It is well-suited for residential shop, job shop, and production machining applications where a square insert with a neutral hand and fine corner radius is required. Machinists and CNC operators handling ferrous and non-ferrous materials in medium to light cutting conditions will find the FP chipbreaker geometry effective for maintaining chip control and surface finish during finish turning passes.
Designed as a replacement-style insert for SNMG-compatible turning toolholders accepting a square insert with size code 432, clearance code N, tolerance code M, and a 0.1875 inch insert thickness.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC operator into an SNMG-style insert pocket toolholder using the appropriate torx or hex key per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Ensure the insert seat and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer clamping torque guidance to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure.
