The KENNAMETAL 7093155 is a TPGT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. The insert features an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating applied over a KCU10B carbide grade substrate, providing thermal resistance and wear protection during high-speed cutting. The triangular insert geometry offers three usable cutting edges, extending tool life between index cycles. With an 11-degree relief angle and a 0.0313 inch (1/32 inch) corner radius, this insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is used in light to medium turning applications on materials compatible with AlTiN-coated carbide tooling, including steels and cast irons. The LF chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during finishing cuts at lower depths of cut and feed rates. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across a range of standard TPGT toolholders used in both production and job-shop environments. The insert measures 3.97 mm (0.1563 inches) in thickness and 3.97 mm (0.1563 inches) in width, fitting standard TPGT size 3252 toolholder pockets.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard TPGT size 3252 toolholder pockets accepting triangular carbide turning inserts with a P clearance code and G tolerance code.
Installation is performed by machinists following standard insert indexing procedures on CNC or manual turning equipment. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use a torx or hex key of the appropriate size for the toolholder clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can crack the insert or distort the pocket seating surface. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and tool-length repeatability.
