The KENNAMETAL 7081747 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit engineered for deep-hole drilling in demanding production and machining environments. Part of the HPR series, it features a dual coating of AlCrN and TiAlN for heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. At 5.50mm in diameter with a 173mm overall length and a 15xD flute-to-diameter ratio, it is built to reach depths that standard-length drills cannot achieve. The through-coolant design delivers cutting fluid directly to the tip, flushing chips and reducing heat at the cutting zone. This drill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling specialists in metalworking facilities.
This drill is suited for deep-hole applications in aerospace, automotive, die and mold, and general precision machining. Its 130mm flute length and 117mm maximum drilling depth make it appropriate for production runs requiring consistent, accurate holes in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar difficult-to-machine alloys. The two-flute spiral geometry and 135-degree drill point angle promote chip evacuation and accurate entry. The 6.0mm shank diameter provides rigid toolholder engagement in standard collet chucks and hydraulic holders.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for solid carbide extra length drill bits in the HPR series. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses with toolholders accepting a 6.0mm shank diameter.
Installation and operation of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked out before inserting or removing the drill from its holder. Confirm the collet or chuck bore matches the 6.0mm shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning a cut. Enable through-coolant flow prior to contact with the workpiece to prevent thermal shock to the carbide substrate.
