Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 7026684 is a TNMG332RP carbide turning insert in grade KCP25C, designed for general-purpose metal cutting on CNC and manual lathes. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 over a carbide substrate, delivering thermal resistance and wear life on steel and cast iron workpieces. The triangle insert shape provides 6 available cutting edges, a 1/32 inch corner radius, and an inscribed circle of 3/8 inch. The RP chip breaker geometry uses a chamfered and honed cutting edge with a 5-degree rake angle. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of a KENLOC toolholding system.

This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K). The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand and left-hand toolholder setups where the insert geometry determines the cut direction. Holding is accomplished via clamp and pin method, standard to KENLOC-series toolholders. It carries both ANSI and ISO dimensional standards, with an ISO designation of TNMG160408RP.

Key Features

  • Multilayer CVD coating: TiCN and Al2O3 for thermal barrier and crater-wear resistance on steel and cast iron
  • 6 usable cutting edges per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost
  • RP chip breaker with chamfered and honed edge for controlled chip formation and edge stability
  • Neutral hand insert works in a range of right-hand and left-hand KENLOC toolholders
  • Maximum depth of cut up to 0.2163 inches; supports turning, facing, and boring applications
  • Meets ANSI and ISO dimensional standards; ISO code TNMG160408RP

Compatibility

Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting TNMG-style triangle inserts with a clamp-and-pin holding method. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for TNMG332 inserts, making it dimensionally compatible with toolholders specified for industry-standard TNMG160408 geometry.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and secure the clamp and pin to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure before taking any cut. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for damage at each index; do not continue use on a chipped or cracked edge.
