The KENNAMETAL 6767740 is a solid carbide ball end mill from the Harvi I TE series, designed for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The 3/8-inch diameter tool features a 1-1/4-inch length of cut, a 3-inch overall length, and a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Four right-hand spiral flutes with a variable helix geometry promote chip evacuation and reduce chatter during both roughing and finishing passes. The AlTiN PVD coating, applied over KCPM15 carbide grade, provides thermal resistance and edge durability in high-temperature cutting environments. Licensed machinists and CNC machine operators install this tool in vertical and horizontal machining centers for a range of operations.
The 6767740 is suited for dynamic milling toolpaths, aggressive ramping operations, and conventional profiling in ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces. Its long-reach geometry and variable helix make it well-matched for deep-pocket finishing and high-speed roughing strategies used in aerospace, die-and-mold, and general precision machining applications. The single-end configuration and standard fractional-inch shank diameter simplify setup in collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders commonly found in production environments.
The 6767740 is rated for primary workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO material classification. It is part of the Kennametal Harvi I TE series H1TEBN..N-L and carries manufacturer catalog number H1TE4BN0375L125HA.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the 3/8-inch straight shank in a properly sized collet, shrink-fit, or hydraulic chuck torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification before spindle engagement. Verify runout at the tool tip before cutting, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Never exceed the tool manufacturer feed and speed parameters for the target workpiece material and coating type.
