The KENNAMETAL 6763682 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation DNMG431MP and ISO designation DNMG150404MP, coated with AlTiN via a PVD process and assigned manufacturer grade KCS10B. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a negative rake angle of 6 degrees, and a neutral hand orientation. With 4 usable cutting edges, a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, and an MP chip breaker geometry rated for roughing through medium machining, this insert is suited to demanding turning applications. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC and manual lathes using clamp or pin holding methods.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Its KCS10B grade targets steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), superalloys and titanium (S), and hardened materials (H), delivering high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance and toughness across these workpiece categories. It is part of the KENLOC series and carries both ANSI and ISO standard certifications, making it a versatile choice for production and job-shop environments where multiple material types are encountered on the same tooling setup.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders accepting DNMG431 inserts with clamp or pin holding. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, superalloys, and titanium workpieces per primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the toolholder removed from the turret where practical. Verify the insert pocket is clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the insert to ensure proper support and accurate tool geometry. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamping screw driver per the toolholder manufacturer's instructions — do not over-torque the clamping screw. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each use and index or replace the insert when wear or chipping is detected.
