The KENNAMETAL 6756041 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VCGR331FP geometry, grade KCS10B, with a physical vapor deposition (PVD) AlTiN coating. It belongs to the Kennametal Top Notch series and features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a 15-degree positive rake angle. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations. With two usable cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials including stainless steel, steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and aluminum. It weighs approximately 0.032 pounds.
This insert is suited for CNC lathe and turning center applications where finishing passes are required. Typical applications include turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. The KCS10B grade provides high to moderate wear resistance and toughness, making it a reliable choice for production environments handling stainless steel and superalloy components. It is intended for use in Top Notch series toolholders that accept VCGR-style inserts with clamp-style holding. The neutral hand orientation allows flexible setup in a range of toolholder configurations.
Designed for use in Top Notch series toolholders and boring bars that accept VCGR-style clamp-held inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Verify toolholder seat and clamp compatibility with the VCGR331 pocket specification before installation.
Installation of indexable turning inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate clamp screw and torque tool specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert. Inspect the insert pocket seat for damage or debris before seating the insert to avoid chipping the cutting edge. Never exceed the maximum recommended depth of cut of 0.4356 inches for this insert geometry.
