The KENNAMETAL 6677055 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and four flutes with a variable helix angle ranging from 36 to 39 degrees. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection during aggressive cuts. At 3-1/2 inches overall length with a matching 5/8 inch Weldon flat shank, this centercutting tool handles both roughing and finishing passes. It belongs to the H1TE series and carries a material grade designation of KCPM15.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Typical applications include shouldering, slotting, ramp-down entry, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing operations. The variable index flute geometry helps reduce harmonic vibration during heavy cuts. It is commonly used in CNC machining centers in both production and job-shop environments where edge chamfering and multi-operation capability are required in a single tool. The 45-degree chamfer angle at the corner makes it suitable for breaking edges and producing consistent chamfer geometry on machined features.
Designed as an OEM-specified H1TE series replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill compatible with CNC machining centers accepting a 5/8 inch Weldon flat shank. Also referenced under manufacturer catalog number H1TE4CH0625R125HB.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully de-energized and the machine is in a safe lockout-tagout state before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat fully into the tool holder and torque the set screw against the flat per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, and confirm feed and speed parameters match the workpiece material and depth of cut.
