The KENNAMETAL 6676996 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for demanding metal removal operations in professional machining environments. Measuring 5/16 inches in diameter with a 1/2-inch length of cut and 2-inch overall length, this single-end tool carries a 45-degree chamfer angle with a 0.0150-inch chamfer width. The AlTiN PVD coating provides heat resistance and surface hardness suited to high-speed cutting. The variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts, making this tool effective for both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup.
This end mill is built for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. It supports a wide range of operations including shouldering, slotting, ramp-down entry, helical interpolation, drill milling, plunging, and recessing. The centercutting design allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. It is part of the H1TE series, catalog number H1TE4CH0313S050HA, and is intended for use on CNC machining centers operated by skilled machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide end mill for CNC machining centers requiring a 5/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank tool in the H1TE series. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following shop-standard toolholding procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and verify runout before cutting. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool path is programmed before engaging the workpiece. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety protocols when handling carbide tooling.
