The KENNAMETAL 6676942 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to the H1TE series standard, it features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length with a 0.5 inch shank diameter. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life, making it well suited for dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. Four spiral flutes with a 360 variable helix and variable index geometry help reduce chatter, improve chip evacuation, and deliver consistent surface finishes across a range of materials. Material grade KCPM15 is optimized for cutting steel and similarly hard workpiece materials.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical and horizontal milling machine applications where precision and tool longevity are critical. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. The centercutting geometry allows the tool to plunge directly into a workpiece as well as perform side milling, slotting, and profiling operations. It is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with right-hand fluting. The regular length profile suits general-purpose production environments in aerospace, die and mold, and general machining shops.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill replacement for milling operations involving steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), high-temperature alloys (S), and hardened materials (H) per ISO workpiece material classification.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator using a compatible end mill holder, collet, or shrink-fit toolholder sized for a 0.5 inch shank. Confirm that the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of chips or runout before seating the tool. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling per standard OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended depth-of-cut and feed rate parameters for the selected workpiece material.
