The KENNAMETAL 6676917 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temp alloys, and hardened materials. Built to KCPM15 grade carbide with an AlTiN coating, this single-end tool runs a 360-degree variable helix geometry spanning 36 to 39 degrees, which reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation in difficult cuts. At 0.25 inches in diameter with a 0.5-inch length of cut and 2.5-inch overall length, it fits standard 1/4-inch collets and tool holders. Licensed HVAC, machining, and toolroom professionals specify this series for precision-critical operations where tool life and surface finish matter.
This end mill is suited for vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills running right-hand spindle rotation. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, making it practical for pocketing, slotting, and profiling operations. The H1TE series is designed primarily for ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H, covering the full range of ferrous and hard-to-machine workpiece materials commonly encountered in job shop, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments.
Designed for use with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temp alloys, and hardened materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H). Fits any tool holder or collet accepting a 1/4-inch shank diameter. Part of the Kennametal H1TE series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the tool holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
