The KENNAMETAL 6630917 is a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) turning insert carrying industry standard designation CNGA433S0525DMT in grade KBH20B. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, and a 3/64-inch (0.0469 inch) corner radius. The insert runs a neutral hand orientation, a negative rake angle, and a flat-top chip breaker geometry. Cutting edges are chamfered and honed for hard-material applications. A multilayer PVD coating - TiN/TiAlN/TiN - provides wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. Two usable cutting edges are provided per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in KENLOC-compatible toolholders for high-precision hard-turning operations.
This insert is engineered for turning, facing, and boring of hard workpiece materials classified under ISO material group H, corresponding to hardened steels, hard cast irons, and similar materials in the H15 and H25 material grade range. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning of hardened components on CNC lathes and turning centers. The negative side clearance and clamp-and-pin holding method suit heavy interrupted and continuous cuts on hard materials where insert security and edge integrity are critical. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with ISO code CNGA120412S01225DMT.
Designed for use in KENLOC-compatible toolholders accepting CNGA-style inserts with clamp and pin holding. Fits toolholders specified for a 1/2-inch inscribed circle CNGA433 insert. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards for interchangeability verification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces and verify the clamp and pin are secure before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.1691 inch as specified for this insert geometry.
