The KENNAMETAL 6584020 is a hydraulic tool chuck from the HydroForce series, designed for precision CNC toolholding applications. It features a CV50 taper shank connection and accepts cutting tools with a 0.75 inch (19.05 mm) bore diameter. Hydraulic clamping delivers consistent, high-force tool retention without the need for a separate nut or collet, which reduces runout and improves surface finish in milling, drilling, and boring operations. The chuck has an overall length of 6.75 inches (171.45 mm) and a nose diameter of 2.283 inches (58 mm). It is installed by qualified CNC machinists and tooling technicians.
This chuck is suited for use in machining centers and CNC mills equipped with CV50 (also known as BT50 or CAT50 class) spindle interfaces. The 2.75 inch projection and 2.0 inch clamping depth accommodate a range of straight-shank tooling in production environments. Through-coolant capability supports high-speed cutting operations where directed coolant delivery to the cutting zone is required. Typical applications include roughing and finishing passes in metal-cutting production and job-shop environments.
Designed as a direct-fit hydraulic toolholder for machining centers with a CV50 taper spindle interface, accepting straight-shank tooling with a 0.75 inch shank diameter. Specific machine compatibility should be confirmed against spindle interface standards before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully powered down and locked out per facility lockout-tagout procedures. The taper shank and spindle taper bore must be clean and free of chips, oil film, or damage before seating the chuck. Hydraulic expansion chucks require the correct hydraulic actuation key or hex wrench for tool clamping and release — do not use impact tools on the actuation port. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator after clamping before returning the spindle to service.
