The KENNAMETAL 6401885 is an indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It uses a clamp-style insert holding method and accepts EG0200M02P02 inserts for a 2 mm groove width with a maximum depth of cut of 16 mm. The toolholder features a 3/4 x 3/4 inch square shank and integrated through-coolant capability, allowing coolant delivery directly to the cutting edge for improved chip evacuation and tool life. This is a right-hand configuration belonging to the EVSM series. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments rely on this toolholder for precise grooving and parting operations on turned components.
This toolholder is intended for external grooving and cutoff applications in metalworking environments. It is suited for use on CNC turning centers and manual lathes where controlled groove width and depth are required. The EVSM series design accommodates through-coolant passages, making it appropriate for high-speed or difficult-to-machine materials where heat management at the cutting zone is critical. The 79 mm shank length and compact head geometry allow it to fit a range of turret configurations commonly found in production turning setups.
Compatible with EG0200M02P02 indexable grooving inserts as specified by the manufacturer. Designed for use in standard 3/4 inch square shank tooling positions on CNC turning center turrets. Verify turret block clearance against the 27.30 mm head height and 35.30 mm head length before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle and turret before mounting or removing the toolholder. Ensure the through-coolant port is properly connected to the machine coolant supply and that all fittings are secure before resuming operation. Confirm insert seating and clamp torque against the toolholder manufacturer documentation before taking a cut.
