The KENNAMETAL 6388686 is a replaceable-tip carbide drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in steel and cast iron. Built around the KTFS series platform, the drill accepts a solid carbide KTFSS10400HPGM tip in grade KCP15A with an HPG insert geometry and an AlTiN PVD coating. The tip seats in a J-size insert seat and is held by a clamp mechanism. Cutting diameter is 10.4mm (0.4094 inches). The AlTiN finish provides thermal resistance during dry or minimal-coolant drilling cycles. Two helical flutes with a regular spiral promote chip evacuation in medium-to-deep holes.

This tool is suited for production drilling in ferrous workpiece materials, specifically steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K).
