The KENNAMETAL 6388678 is a solid carbide replaceable drill tip designed for use in modular drilling systems that accept KTFSS-series tip-seat toolholders. The tip features a 0.4016 inch (10.00 mm) cutting diameter, a 180-degree included point angle, and a PVD-applied AlTiN coating. The fine-grain solid carbide substrate paired with the KCP15A grade delivers hardness and thermal resistance suited for high-productivity drilling in ferrous materials. This tip uses a clamp-style holding method and fits an insert seat size J. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians as part of a quick-change boring and drilling setup.

This replaceable drill tip is intended for drilling operations in steel and cast iron workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P and K. It is suited for challenging entry and exit conditions including inclined exit surfaces and stacked-plate configurations. The helical, regular-spiral, 2-flute geometry with a 2-margin design supports stable cutting action in these demanding applications. Coolant-through capability is not supported by this tip.
