The KENNAMETAL 6388570 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use with compatible modular drilling systems that accept KTFSS-series seat size V inserts. Manufactured from fine grain solid carbide in grade KCP15A and coated with AlTiN via a PVD process, this tip provides high wear resistance and thermal stability during demanding hole-making operations. It features a 180-degree included angle with HPG insert geometry and a helical, regular spiral flute configuration with two flutes and two margins. The cutting diameter measures 0.6929 inches (17.60 mm), with a functional length of 0.3465 inches and an overall projection of 0.4945 inches. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians working in metal cutting environments.
This replaceable drill tip is suited for drilling operations in steel and cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes P and K. The KTFSS series design supports applications including standard drilling, inclined surface exit drilling, and stacked plate drilling. The tip uses a clamp-style insert holding method and does not incorporate coolant-through capability. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers and similar production drilling setups where quick tip replacement and consistent hole quality are priorities.
Designed for use with KENNAMETAL KTFSS-series modular drill bodies accepting insert seat size V. Compatible primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron (ISO material codes P and K).
This replaceable drill tip is installed and replaced by qualified machining technicians or tooling specialists. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating any replaceable tip. Ensure the insert seat is clean and free of chips or debris before clamping the tip in place. Follow the drill body manufacturer's clamping torque guidance and applicable shop safety procedures during tool assembly.
