The KENNAMETAL 6372069 is a straight-shank indexable drill body from the KenTIP FS series, designed for deep-hole drilling applications in metalworking and machining environments. Built on the KTFS toolholder platform, this drill body accepts interchangeable KenTIP FS insert tips, allowing tip changes without removing the body from the spindle. The 3/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and milling machine spindles. With an 8xD depth-to-diameter ratio, it handles drilling depths significantly beyond what conventional twist drills manage in a single pass. Coolant-through capability delivers cutting fluid directly to the tip, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in steel, cast iron, and other ferrous materials. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop environments are the primary installers.
The 6372069 is suited for CNC machining centers, turning centers with live tooling, and manual milling machines where deep, accurate holes are required in a single operation. The KTFS toolholder style is specific to the KenTIP FS insert tip platform, making tip selection straightforward. With a flute length of 162.60 mm and a shank length of 50.80 mm, the body provides the reach needed for 8xD drilling without excessive overhang. The coolant-through design makes it well-suited for horizontal machining centers where gravity-assisted chip removal is limited. Applications include structural steel fabrication, die and mold work, and general production machining where hole depth and positional accuracy are critical.
Designed for use with KENNAMETAL KenTIP FS series insert tips on the KTFS toolholder platform. Compatible with machine spindles accepting a 3/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the drill body. Secure the straight shank in a properly sized collet or hydraulic chuck to the chuck manufacturer's specified clamping procedure. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and confirm adequate coolant pressure at the machine before initiating the cut.
