The KENNAMETAL 6372012 is a KenTIP FS series indexable drill body with a straight cylindrical shank, designed for use with interchangeable carbide drill tips in metal-cutting operations. The body features a 7/16-inch shank diameter and supports a drill depth-to-diameter ratio of 3xD, making it suitable for moderate-depth hole-making in production environments. Through-coolant capability is built in, allowing cutting fluid to be delivered directly to the cutting zone for improved chip evacuation and tool life. This drill body is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
The 6372012 is suited for high-volume drilling applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where consistent hole quality and fast cycle times are required. The KTFS toolholder style is specific to the KenTIP FS platform, which uses a self-centering tip-locking mechanism. Typical applications include automotive, aerospace, and general metalworking production cells where indexable drilling offers a cost-effective alternative to solid carbide drills. The straight shank allows direct installation in standard ER collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders that accept a 7/16-inch bore.
Designed for use with KenTIP FS series interchangeable carbide drill tips in the KTFS toolholder platform. Confirm tip size and series designation before ordering to ensure proper tip-to-body fit.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in an appropriate collet chuck or hydraulic holder rated for the 7/16-inch shank diameter before mounting. Verify through-coolant connections are properly seated if coolant-through operation is required. Follow the tool manufacturer guidelines for tip seating and clamping to avoid tip movement during cutting.
