The KENNAMETAL 6371083 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use with KTFST-series indexable drill bodies. Manufactured from fine-grain solid carbide and coated with AlTiN via a PVD process, this tip delivers thermal and wear resistance in demanding metal-cutting applications. The tip features a 140-degree point angle, HPL insert geometry, and two helical flutes with two margins, making it suited for high-penetration-rate drilling in stainless steel and other ISO M-category workpiece materials. Coolant-through capability is built in to support chip evacuation and cutting-edge temperature management at the point of cut. The insert seat size is R and the holding method is clamp-style for positive, repeatable seating in compatible drill bodies.
This drill tip is intended for production drilling environments where consistent hole quality and tool-change efficiency are priorities. Typical applications include drilling straight through-holes, inclined-exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling operations in stainless steel. The KTFST series tip-change design allows the carbide cutting element to be swapped at the machine without removing the drill body, reducing downtime on CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and dedicated drilling stations. A licensed machinist or toolroom technician typically handles setup and tip indexing.
Designed for use with KTFST-series replaceable-tip drill bodies accepting seat size R inserts. ISO number for this tip is KTFST05625HPL. Confirm drill body seat size and series before ordering to ensure proper fitment.
Installation and tip changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable machine-shop safety procedures. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the tip. Use the manufacturer-specified clamp torque procedure for KTFST-series bodies as documented in the tooling system documentation. Do not exceed the recommended cutting parameters for the KCMS15 grade when machining stainless steel.
