The KENNAMETAL 6371065 is a replaceable carbide drill tip designed for use with KTFST-series modular drilling systems. It carries grade KCMS15 fine-grain solid carbide construction with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating, giving it the hardness and thermal resistance needed for demanding hole-making in stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine materials. The tip measures 0.4724 inches (12.00 mm) in cutting diameter and features a 140-degree point angle with an HPL insert geometry optimized for helical, two-flute cutting action. It is held in place via a clamp-style seat size N interface and delivers coolant-through capability to flush chips and control heat at the cutting edge. Machinists and tool-room professionals install this tip as a cost-effective alternative to replacing an entire drill body.
This replaceable tip is suited for CNC drilling operations in metalworking environments where stainless steel, duplex alloys, and other M-category workpiece materials are common. The coolant-through design makes it appropriate for deep-hole and production-volume drilling where chip evacuation is critical. Specific documented application categories include drilling on inclined exit surfaces and drilling of stacked plates, making it viable for fixture-intensive or aerospace-style setups. The two-flute, two-margin geometry supports stable tracking and hole quality in tight-tolerance work.
Designed for use with KTFST-series modular drill bodies that accept a size N insert seat. The ISO number for this tip is KTFST12000HPLM. Verify seat size and series compatibility with the drill body before ordering.
Installation is performed by machining or toolroom personnel following the drill body manufacturer's clamping torque procedure for the KTFST seat interface. Always index or replace tips with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Inspect the seat pocket for chips, wear, or damage before seating the new tip, as debris in the pocket can cause runout and premature tip failure. Handle solid carbide tips carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges during installation.
