Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 6370922 is a replaceable drill tip in the KTFST series, designed for high-performance drilling applications in stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine materials. It measures 0.6875 inches in cutting diameter and features a 140-degree point angle with a helical, 2-flute geometry. The tip is manufactured from fine-grain solid carbide and carries a PVD-applied AlTiN coating that improves heat resistance and tool life at the cutting edge. The HPL insert geometry and KCMS15 grade are matched specifically for demanding metal-removal cycles where edge stability and coating adhesion matter. Coolant-through capability is built in, supporting direct delivery to the cutting zone. This tip is installed by machinists and CNC tooling professionals in production and job-shop environments.

This replaceable drill tip fits KTFST-series holders with insert seat size V and ISO designation KTFST06875HPL. It is suited for drilling operations in stainless steel (ISO material code M), including inclined-exit drilling and stacked-plate drilling. The 2-flute, 2-margin configuration with through-coolant support makes it appropriate for CNC machining centers running coolant-fed spindles. Typical applications include precision hole-making in aerospace, medical, and industrial fabrication where stainless steel is the primary workpiece material.

Key Features

  • Fine-grain solid carbide construction for edge toughness in stainless and hard alloys
  • AlTiN coating applied via PVD process for thermal resistance and extended tool life
  • 140-degree point angle with HPL insert geometry reduces cutting forces on entry and exit
  • Coolant-through design delivers fluid directly to the cutting zone for chip evacuation and heat control
  • Helical flute, regular spiral, 2-flute/2-margin configuration supports consistent chip flow
  • Clamp-held insert seating in KTFST seat size V for repeatable positioning

Compatibility

Designed for use with KTFST-series replaceable-tip drill holders requiring insert seat size V. ISO number KTFST06875HPL identifies the compatible holder interface. Confirm holder seat size and clamping style before installation.

Installation Notes

This tip is installed and replaced by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before seating or removing the tip, de-energize and lock out the machine spindle per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the holder manufacturer - do not over-torque the clamp, as carbide tips are brittle and can crack under uneven clamping load. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and aligned before resuming operation.
