The KENNAMETAL 6370906 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the KTFST series, designed for precision hole-making in demanding machining environments. The drill features a solid carbide tip with an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cuts. It carries manufacturer grade KCMS15 with a fine grain carbide material grade. The 140-degree drill point angle and HPL insert geometry are optimized for controlled entry and reduced thrust forces. Through-coolant capability is built in, supporting chip evacuation and heat management at the cutting zone. This tool is installed and managed by machinists and CNC tool crib personnel in production and job shop environments.
The KENNAMETAL 6370906 is engineered primarily for drilling stainless steel and other M-group workpiece materials, where edge toughness and coating durability are critical. The helical flute design with a regular spiral and two flutes with two margins promotes chip control and bore quality. Typical applications include straight drilling, inclined exit drilling, and stacked plate drilling. The U-seat insert size and clamp holding method allow for quick tip replacement without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing changeover time in production settings.
Designed for use in KTFST series drill bodies accepting a U-seat insert size. Primary workpiece material rating is stainless steel (ISO material group M). Verified tip ISO number is KTFST16000HPLM.
Installation of replaceable tip drills should be performed by qualified machinists following the machine tool builder and tooling manufacturer torque and clamping specifications for the seat type. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is locked out before changing the carbide tip. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new tip to prevent seating errors or premature tip failure. Through-coolant lines should be verified clear and at correct pressure before resuming cutting operations.
