The KENNAMETAL 6370421 is a carbide replaceable tip drill built for precision hole-making in cast iron and similar K-category materials. The drill tip is manufactured from solid carbide in grade KC7410 with a PVD-applied AlCr coating for heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The HPC insert geometry is designed for high-performance cutting, and the 140-degree included angle produces a well-centered, stable entry. Through-coolant capability delivers cutting fluid directly to the cutting edge, supporting chip evacuation and thermal management in deep or interrupted drilling operations. The part weighs approximately 0.05 pounds.
This replaceable tip drill is intended for use in machining cast iron workpieces in production or job-shop environments where consistent hole quality and fast tool changeover are priorities. The KTFST series design uses a clamp-type insert holding method, allowing the carbide tip to be indexed or replaced without removing the drill body from the spindle. Typical applications include straight drilling, inclined surface entry, cross-hole drilling, and stacked-plate drilling. The two-flute, four-margin configuration with helical flute geometry suits through-hole and blind-hole operations in ferrous materials.
Designed for use with KTFST series drill bodies accepting ZD insert seat size. Compatible with machining centers and CNC lathes equipped with through-spindle coolant. Primary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO material code K).
Installation and tip indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the replaceable tip. Ensure the insert seat is clean and free of chips or debris before clamping the tip to achieve proper seating and runout. Verify through-coolant supply pressure and flow rate are within the machine and toolholder specifications before initiating a cut.
