The KENNAMETAL 6358124 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with an AlTiN finish, this bit delivers excellent heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting speeds. It features a 140-degree point angle for aggressive, self-centering penetration into hard materials. With an overall length of 2.44 inches and a 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch) cutting diameter, this stub-length design provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, reducing deflection in short-hole drilling operations. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and precision metalworking technicians are the primary installers and users.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys in production machining environments. The screw machine length format makes it well-matched for CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and manual knee mills where short-reach tooling is required. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.2362 inch (6.00 mm) diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. The flute-by-diameter ratio of 3xD supports chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole work within its rated maximum drilling depth of 0.55 inches. The coolant-through design enables internal coolant delivery to the cutting zone, extending tool life when used with appropriate coolant-capable spindles.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.2362 inch (6.00 mm) straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. Part of the Kennametal Series B210, material grade KCMS15.
Installation and use of this tooling should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with carbide cutting tools. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured and the machine is at a complete stop before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to chipping from lateral shock or improper clamping - never use excessive side force. When using the coolant-through feature, verify that the machine spindle is configured to deliver coolant at the appropriate pressure before engaging the cut.
