The KENNAMETAL 6351280 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding materials. With a 17/64 inch (0.2656 inch) diameter and a 140-degree split-point geometry, it delivers accurate starts and reduced thrust in hard workpieces. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. Coolant-through capability channels cutting fluid directly to the cutting edge, controlling heat and chip evacuation in deep-hole applications. This drill is suited for use on CNC machining centers and automated drilling setups where consistent performance in tough alloys is required.
This bit is engineered for machining stainless steel and high-temperature alloys, where standard high-speed steel tooling fails prematurely. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flutes promote efficient chip removal in these long-chipping materials. The straight cylindrical shank at 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. Typical applications include aerospace, medical device manufacturing, oil and gas component machining, and any production environment requiring reliable hole quality in difficult-to-machine alloys.
Designed for drilling stainless steel and high-temperature alloys. Fits standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.3125 inch straight cylindrical shank. Optimized for use in CNC drilling and machining center applications requiring coolant-through toolholder compatibility.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC tooling setup and cutting parameters for carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and properly torqued before seating the shank to prevent runout. Confirm coolant-through supply is active before initiating cuts in stainless steel or high-temp alloys, as dry running will significantly reduce tool life. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without adjusted feeds, or using this bit in hand-drill applications.
