The KENNAMETAL 6292614 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SNHJ442 series, designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. It carries a dual-layer PVD coating of TiAlN and TiN, which provides thermal resistance and extended edge life at elevated cutting speeds. The insert measures 0.5000 inches square with a thickness of 0.1780 inches (4.52 mm) and a corner radius of 0.0310 inches (0.80 mm). With 8 usable cutting edges on a double-sided, neutral-hand configuration, this insert delivers a low per-edge cost for production milling operations. It is held in the cutter body via a screw-clamp method and features a chamfered and honed cutting edge style for controlled chip formation.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. The DH chip breaker geometry is optimized for those primary workpiece material groups, reducing cutting forces and improving chip evacuation on difficult-to-machine alloys. It is compatible with the KSSM cutter series and is identified by ANSI code SNHJ442SNGDH and ISO code SNHJ120608SNGDH. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and high-feed passes on CNC machining centers where consistent edge performance and thermal stability are required.
Designed for use with the KSSM cutter series. ANSI designation SNHJ442SNGDH and ISO designation SNHJ120608SNGDH apply. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards for SNHJ-style square inserts with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician using the screw-clamp holding method specified for the KSSM cutter body. Ensure the cutter body is clean and the insert seat is free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Follow the cutter manufacturer's torque specification for the clamping screw, as over-torquing can fracture the carbide substrate.
