The KENNAMETAL 6176091 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ISO designation EDPT10T331PDERHD and manufacturer grade KCSM40. This parallelogram-style, right-hand insert belongs to the EDPT series and is engineered for use in indexable milling cutter bodies. It features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual-coating stack, a positive rake geometry, and a honed cutting edge style. The HD chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation in demanding cuts. With two cutting edges per insert and a 15-degree relief angle, it delivers efficient material removal while reducing cutting forces. Licensed machinists and CNC mill operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. It is compatible with Mill 1-10 cutter series bodies. Typical applications include shoulder milling, face milling, and pocketing operations in aerospace, energy, and general metalworking environments where thermal resistance and edge toughness are critical. The ANSI code for this insert is EP1031EHD and the ISO code is EDPT10T331PDERHD. Insert holding is via screw-on method, standard for EDPT-style toolholders.
Designed for use with Mill 1-10 series cutter bodies that accept EDPT10T331 style inserts. Confirmed compatible cutter series: Mill 1-10. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and screw-on seating requirements before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle completely before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when securing the insert screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper clamping and runout.
