The KENNAMETAL 6086586 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Built from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride), it delivers heat resistance and wear life in demanding cutting environments. The 5/16 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1-5/8 inch length of cut, giving machinists reach for slotting, pocketing, and profiling operations. Four spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. This end mill is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. It is specified under material grade KC633M and belongs to Kennametal series 4SE.IS-R-L-X.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments. It is a practical choice for machinists working with ferrous materials, including carbon and alloy steels, austenitic stainless steels, and gray or ductile cast iron. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry make it compatible with standard spindle rotation. The 5/16 inch shank diameter fits common collet chucks and end mill holders without adapters. No extended reach and no coolant-through construction keep setup straightforward for general-purpose work.
Intended for use on steel (material code P), stainless steel (material code M), and cast iron (material code K) workpieces. Fits standard 5/16 inch collet chucks and end mill holders. Designed for CNC and manual milling machines running right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Verify spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut against Kennametal published cutting data for the specific workpiece material before starting a cut. Secure the shank fully within the tool holder to the recommended gauge length and confirm runout is within acceptable limits before engaging the workpiece. Always wear appropriate PPE and ensure machine guards are in place during operation.
