The KENNAMETAL 6086585 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous metals and hard alloys. With a 5/16-inch cutting diameter and a 1-1/8-inch length of cut, it delivers aggressive material removal while maintaining tight tolerances. The 4-flute, 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation and surface finish quality. A TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in high-temperature cutting environments. This is a single-end, centercutting tool with right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction, suited for plunge, slot, and profile milling operations performed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This end mill is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both conventional and CNC machining centers. The KENNAMETAL material grade KC633M substrate is optimized for these primary workpiece materials. It is appropriate for general-purpose shop use where a compact 5/16-inch diameter tool with a 3-inch overall length and a matching 5/16-inch shank is required. The tool fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems designed for fractional-inch shank diameters. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant should be directed externally.
Designed for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, and K per the KENNAMETAL material classification system. Part of the KENNAMETAL 4SE.IS-R-L-X series. Fits standard 5/16-inch fractional-inch shank toolholders including ER collets and end mill holders.
Installation is performed by machinists using appropriate end mill holders or collet chucks rated for the 5/16-inch shank diameter. Ensure the toolholder is clean and the shank is fully seated before tightening to the manufacturer-specified torque for the holder type in use. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are set according to cutting data appropriate for the workpiece material and tool diameter before engaging the cut. This tool does not support coolant-through delivery; apply external coolant to manage chip load and cutting temperature.
