The KENNAMETAL 6086397 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. It carries a 0.2188 inch cutting diameter with a 0.4375 inch length of cut and a 0.25 inch shank diameter, giving it a compact, rigid profile suited to close-tolerance slot milling, profiling, and step cutting. The two-flute spiral geometry runs at a 30-degree helix angle, promoting efficient chip evacuation and reducing heat buildup in ferrous materials. A TiAlN coating from the KC633M material grade series adds thermal resistance and surface hardness, extending tool life in demanding cuts. Overall length is 2 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where a 0.25 inch shank is accepted. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and K. The single-end, right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional and climb milling passes on these materials. The center-cutting geometry allows direct plunge entry as well as lateral profiling cuts. The Series 2SE designation places it within a defined family of short-length, general-purpose carbide end mills from KENNAMETAL.
Designed for use in tool holders accepting a 0.25 inch shank diameter. Rated for primary workpiece materials steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO P, M, and K material groups). Part of the KENNAMETAL Series 2SE short-length carbide end mill family.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully in a collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-specified engagement depth before running the spindle. Confirm spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cut designation before engaging the workpiece. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or coating wear before each use and replace the tool when wear limits are reached to maintain dimensional accuracy.
